In line with the governments? quest and commitment to helping local industries grow, especially that of petty traders,  Microfinance and Small Loans Center, MASLOC, has disbursed Gh ? 212,300 to traders in the eastern region to help grow their businesses.

Mr. Mustapha Abubakar, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, who led the MASLOC team to issue out cheques to 14 trading groups and 3 individuals in the region stated that; ?government of Ghana is poised to support local traders to grow by ingesting more loans into their businesses?.

Further emphasizing that ? the only way traders can access more loans from MASLOC is for them to repay the loans on time, to enable them and their other counterparts access the facility with ease?.

Adding that, as a social intervention program, the centre had widened its operational scope to include undertaking appropriate reforms and develop measures that would strengthen microfinance operation as an effective and viable strategy for poverty reduction in the country.

He implored the traders to work assiduously to enable them to be in a better position to repay the loan on time so they can apply for another.

With him were Mr. Daniel Axim- head of operations; James Parimah- Regional Manager and his deputy-Abubakar.

So far, hundred and twenty-four thousand (124,000) traders have benefited from the MASLOC loan facility across the length and breadth of the country.

With funding from government and some development partners, the centre had achieved many successes through loan support in areas such as primary production, value-added production and micro-enterprise operation leading to the expansion of job opportunities for a large number of people.
