His advised comes at the heels of the rising cases of divorce among married couples in recent times.

Recent survey conducted has revealed that 70% of all marriages contracted break-up before its first decade, with its causes attributed to lack of proper counseling by pastors who have little or no knowledge in marriage.

Reacting to the assertion, Rev. Fr. Eduah also blamed the problem on the situation where marriages are officiated by some pastors without inquiring about the consent of the families of the would-be marriage couples.

He advised that before officiating any marriage, pastors should first go a step further and investigate the family history of the would-be couples before taking them to the altar.
He also admonished pastors to acquire practical and academic knowledge in counseling in addition to their theological gift, as he said that will help them give the best form of counseling to the couples before marriage.
