The Upper East Regional Minister, Mark Woyongo has rejected suggestions the electoral fortunes of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be adversely impacted because the NPP has maintained its 2000 running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He insists Dr. Bawumia does not represent any threat to the ruling NDC in any of the three regions up north.

Correspondent Rafiq Salam reported Mr Woyongo claimed that given the massive development projected dotted across the three northern region, the NDC entertained no fears at all.

The regional minister asserted the governing party will extend its margin of victory in December this year.

Meanwhile a group of Muslims in the NPP in the region has expressed disgust at what it says are disparaging remarks made by NDC parliamentary candidate for Nantom, Murtala Ibrahim, about Dr. Bawumia when he appeared on Joy FM’s news analysis program Newsfile over the weekend.

Spokesperson for the group, Abubakari Mohammed Seta, accuses the MP aspirant of unnecessarily attacking the personality of Dr. Bawumia and questioning his commitment to the Islamic religion.
