They were presented with prizes at the World Blood Donors’ Day celebration held in Koforidua.

Manya Krobo SHS, which emerged the highest blood donor in the region, having donated 399 pints last year, received an LCD projector and laptop computer.

Koforidua Secondary Technical High School during the period gave out 243 pints, while Nkawkaw SHS donated 214 pints.

They were each presented with an LCD projector.

Mr. Solomon Bawa, an individual, on record to have donated blood 40 times, was also honoured, together with Ms. Innocentia Tenke of the Ghana Education Service and Mr. Eugene B. Boateng, a contractor, for donating blood 10 times each.

Dr. Kwame Anim Boamah, Medical Director of the Koforidua Regional Hospital said a total of 22,556 pints of blood was donated in region, last year.

This fell short of one per cent of the region’s population, required to assure the place of adequate blood stock.

He therefore encouraged the people – religious organizations and institutions to accept to voluntarily donate blood to the facilities.

Ms. Comfort Asante, the New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), rallied all to join the campaign to aid the facilities to respond to emergencies to save lives.
