Owner Sheikh Mansour has promised Roberto Mancini’s men a huge bonus that will cost the billionaire more than £4.5m. But he has told club chiefs he couldn’t care less what it costs him if the Blues, who passed a tricky test at Newcastle on Sunday thanks to Yaya Toure’s double, go on to lift the Premier League trophy.

City are in pole position to be crowned champions for the first time since 1968. Mancini’s side lead Manchester United on goal difference and will be crowned champions with a home win over QPR on Sunday.  Mancini’s first-team squad will hit the jackpot if they come out on top. Meanwhile, several stars want Mario Balotelli kept out of the squad for this weekend’s final game and potential title celebrations.

They have grown tired of the Italian’s erratic behaviour and feel he shouldn’t be involved. Balotelli was axed from the squad for last weekend’s win at Newcastle following more lurid headlines about him and escort girls. A Blues source told Starsport:
