Alex Boujah, alias Aboo, an unemployed native of Winneba, pleaded guilty, but begged to explain

his action. The court, presided over by Mr. Alexander Oware, granted him his wish, after which he

was convicted, and sentenced, in accordance with to his plea.

Narrating the facts of the case, the prosecutor, Police Inspector Peter Agbelie said the

complainant of the case was Mr. Morrison James, a family member, who lived together with the

mother and the grandmother of the accused in the same house at Winneba.

He said the accused often visited the mother and the grandmother, but three weeks ago, when

he visited the house in the afternoon, he took advantage of the quietness of the house and

stole one ceiling fan, a steriliser and two dogs, the property of Mr Ato Koomson, another family

member, and a witness in the case.

According to the prosecution, the Aboo went to his grandmother?s room and stole one bed

sheet, nine assorted cloths, and one Kente cloth from her trunk and went into hiding.

Inspector Agbelie stated that on August, 9, at about 2113 hours, the accused was spotted in

his hideout at Winneba by the complainant, who arrested him and handed him over to the Police.

He said during the investigation, the accused admitted the offence and stated that, he only

took away two men?s cloth and one dog and denied the rest of the charges on the charge sheet.

He was later arraigned and charged with the offence.
