The fire started around 3:30 p.m. local time, generating thick smoke above the mall. This marks the second major fire in Qatar in the past two days, the ministry said.

The large shopping center, the Mall of Qatar, has been under construction since 2012 in AL Rayyan, the west of Doha, and was scheduled to open on Aug. 23.

With an estimated cost of 825 million U.S. dollars, it was planned to cover an area of about 500,000 square meters. Enditem
