Real Madrid

Real Madrid will look to extend their winning streak in La Liga when they host Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

When the two sides met earlier this season Roque Santa Cruz scored a brace to hand Malaga a memorable 3-2 win, a result that Madrid will be keen to avenge in their own backyard.

The Whites have won their last five league matches but remain in second place on the log table with 77 points, eleven less than log leaders Barcelona.

However, Jose Mourinho?s side will play two matches before the Catalans play their next game on Sunday night, meaning they can reduce the lead to five points to apply a bit of pressure on their rivals.

Madrid go into this clash on the back of a hard-fought 4-3 win over Real Valladolid and Kaka, who was amongst the scorers on the night, has challenged his side to be stronger defensively in their next match.

“We showed our ability to make a comeback against a great Valladolid side,? he said. ?We conceded three goals at home, that?s not normal and we don?t like it, the entire defensive system is to blame, but these are things to improve.

?Once again we?ll be at home and against Malaga. It?s a tough game and it will be a good chance to show that we?re doing well, that we keep amassing points in La Liga and to prepare for the Copa del Rey final.?

Malaga are currently in sixth place with 53 points from their 34 matches and go into the clash on the back of a 1-0 loss to Granada.

However, forward Julio Baptista is relishing his going up against his former club and is hopeful that his current side will put up a strong fight away from home. ?I?m really looking to going back to the Bernabeu, I?ve not been there for five years,? said Baptista.

?I?ll always have affection for Real Madrid, but I?m defending the M?laga colours now and we?re going to try our best to do the possible or impossible and bring three points home.

?They?ll obviously be determined to win to prevent Barcelona from becoming League champions so early on.  However with the amount of points Bar?a have got, it?ll be very difficult for them not to win the League.?
