Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene received a solemn delegation from Manhyia Palace on Monday, formally notifying him of the passing of Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The representatives of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II conveyed the news during a meeting at the minister’s office.

Amoakohene immediately shared President John Mahama’s condolences on his official Facebook page. “On behalf of the President and the Government of Ghana, I extend our deepest sympathies to His Majesty, the Royal Family, and all Asanteman,” he wrote.

The minister honored the queen mother’s legacy, noting her “grace, wisdom, and dedicated service” to the Ashanti people.

He described her death as a profound loss to both the region and the nation, closing his tribute in Akan with the traditional farewell: “Sotorɔ mienu ma anihanehanee ampa Nana, nante yie” (Farewell, truthful one; travel well).

The statement underscores the government’s recognition of the Asantehemaa’s unifying cultural role.
