President John Mahama has designated the Eastern Corridor Road as central to his administration’s infrastructure agenda, pledging accelerated completion of the Nkwanta–Kpassa–Oti Damanko stretch.
The commitment aims to enhance national integration and economic development in the Oti Region.
During a July 25 regional tour, Mahama stated: “This strategic transportation link is a top priority.” He confirmed advanced procurement stages for seven additional roads, including the Dambai Bridge, Hohoe–Jasikan, and Abotoase–Atonkor corridors.
These projects form part of broader efforts to end the region’s infrastructure marginalization.
The Eastern Corridor—a critical artery connecting northern and southern Ghana has faced decades of delays.
Mahama’s pledge aligns with his administration’s focus on equitable development under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government elected in 2024.
