Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed profound satisfaction with the recent ruling by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which cleared him of any involvement in the Airbus scandal.

This decision is seen by Mahama as a reaffirmation of his long-standing commitment to integrity, honesty, and transparency throughout his political career.

In a statement issued in response to the OSP’s ruling, Mahama’s office lauded the outcome as validation of the former president’s adherence to ethical principles.

“The OSP’s ruling reaffirms what we have always known: John Dramani Mahama is a man of integrity, a leader committed to the principles of honesty and transparency,” the statement read.

The statement, signed by Mahama’s special aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari, also addressed the scandal’s political context.

It criticized the current government’s attempts to use the issue for political leverage despite the UK’s Serious Fraud Office having previously cleared Mahama’s brother and others implicated.

According to Mahama’s office, a notable point in the OSP’s ruling was that President Nana Akufo-Addo had personally requested an investigation into Mahama.

The statement claimed that this casts further doubt on the motivations behind the original allegations, which were perceived as attempts to damage Mahama’s reputation.

“The lies and fabricated stories against President Mahama over the last eight years have been consistently proven false,” the statement asserted.

It emphasized Mahama’s willingness to cooperate fully with any investigation and his steadfast belief that he had nothing to conceal.

In a direct challenge, Mahama’s office urged Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo to submit themselves to the same level of scrutiny and transparency, underscoring the need for accountability across all levels of leadership.
