Late Arrival Of Election Material Mar Kogi Council Polls

The Local council election, which was schedule to start by 8am on Saturday, did not start in Lokoja at about 9am as presiding officers failed to show up at the polling units. Some of the polling units visited by Channels Television?s correspondent in the morning showed that materials are yet to arrive. Only security officers were sited at some of the polling units.

In Idah Local Government area, the situation is the same, at about 11am most of the polling units visited are yet to commence accreditation, only the electorate were be seen waiting.

Driving to the Independent National Electoral Commission?s (INEC) office in the local government Channels Television observed the presiding officers returning the ballot boxes and papers allocated to them, owing to the fact that most of the ballot papers have been removed.

Some of the electoral officials, who were willing to grant an interview, said there will be no election unless the ballot papers are complete.

At ugwalawo in Ofu local government headquarters only one polling unit with a very low turnout was set up for the elections.
