Tension is looming among members of the Axim Premix Committee in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western region over an alleged financial malfeasance leading to their inability to render records of accounts regarding proceeds generated from the sale of premix fuel.
The Committee, according concerned citizens of Axim has failed to render accounts to them for over four and half years.
These allegations were leveled by Hon Mathew K. Essien, an Assembly Member for Grant Hill- Bankyem Electoral in an exclusive interview with infoghana last friday night when he was alleged to have been?physically attacked by some tugs of the NDC after questioning the competence and integrity of the Committee Members at?a forum organized by the National Petroleum Authority Stirring Committee and chaired by the Paramount Chief of Western Nzema Traditional Area Awulea Annor Adyayei at the Axim Community Centre last Thursday.
According to Hon Essien, there has not been any account rendered by the committee members as well as effected a single project from the proceeds of the premix sale, this triggered a heated argument and insults?from the Chairman of the Premix Committee Nana Kwesi Bin which?led?to the?latter being?cursed?for daring to challenge the committee to render accounts.
“I will sue anyone who asks for the record of accounts of the proceeds generated from the sale of the fuel, am not not operating in favour of any one” a threat by Nana Kwesi Bin to me (Hon Essien) he told reporters of?infoghana.info.
In fact, Nana Kwesi Bin is not supposed to have been made the Chairman of the Premix Committee in the first place, since he is not a chief fisherman; the NDC disrespected the authority and will of the chiefs and people and brought in someone who is not a chief fisherman. He stressed
Hon Essien further took a swipe at the former MCE for allegedly condoning and conniving with the members of the Premix Committee to loot and share among themselves the 53% earmarked for developmental projects.
He Opined that the former ?MCE, Rev James Ackah Cobbinah was also cited for highly being involved in the corrupt acts perpetrated by the committee members, adding he blatantly supervised and overlooked without calling his people to other.
Out the four landing beach and premix committee, he commended the Apewosika committee members for judiciously utilizing their proceeds to build a Chip Health Care Centre whilst Lower Axim, Upper Axim and Brewire respectively have failed to implement any project to serve their people.
Awulea Amihere Kpayinle II in his remarks called for the immediate investigation of the allegations meted against the sale of the premix.
The angered Assembly Member hinted of plans to go court with two of his colleagues Hon Charles Arthur, Assembly Member for Egya-Domunli and Hon Abugri of Tolanu Electoral areas respectively to compel the supposed NDC mafias to render accounts to the people.
It could be recalled that the Omanhene of the Lower Axim Traditional Area, Awulea Attibrusu III in the latter period of 2013 called on the government to put in place measures that would seek to investigate the committee for allegedly engaging in financial malfeasance.
He expressed worry that the committee since its inauguration has not executed any single project to serve the masses.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach Hon Cobbinah, the former MCE for his side of the story proved futile as his phone has been off?as the time of filling this story.

More to come!
