DEAD! Referee Kwame Andoh Kyei

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has offered its message of condolence to the family of referee Kwame Andoh Kyei, who passed on days after he was assaulted at a match venue.

Kyei, aged 21, was beaten by fans during a third-tier match between Gold Stars and Naa Joe United in Bordie last week Sunday.

He died five days later after being rushed to the hospital earlier in the day because of the injuries.

Ghana FA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi in a release said his outfit profoundly regrets the incident.

?Our thoughts and prayers and those of the wider GFA membership are with his mother Sophia Nketiah, his father Kwadwo Appiah, his family and his wide circle of friends at this sad time.

?He was regarded as one of the association?s most promising up and coming referees and was highly respected by his peers.

?The GFA has been in touch with the family of referee Kyei since his passing to assure them of the federation?s support in this most trying of times.?

A delegation from the Western Region Football Association?s (WRFA) Executive Committee visited the family in Prestea on Tuesday to sympathise and reveal to them the preliminary action to be taken.

Meanwhile, the GFA has ordered the WRFA?s Executive Committee to provide the full facts of what their preliminary investigation into the events surrounding Kyei?s death.
