The Delta State Police Command on Thursday said it had uncovered plans by some miscreants to foment trouble during Saturday?s local government election in the state.

In a statement in Asaba, the office of the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, said the police command was prepared to checkmate the activities of troublemakers and could move in to deal with them even before the elections take place.

The statement, which was signed by ASP Roland Preston, said the command had decided to restrict vehicular movement during the voting period, warning that security operatives had been directed to ?ruthlessly deal with troublemakers before, during and after the elections?.

The statement said, ?The state that the Command, in synergy with other security agencies have mobilised adequate manpower for a hitch-free Local Government election on Saturday 25th. October, 2014.

?The Command also reiterates its appeal and warning to politicians in the state to play the game by the rules and be prepared to accept defeat in good faith as there must always be a winner and a loser in every contest. Youths are warned not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs.

?The Command has therefore imposed restriction of vehicular movements, except for those on essential duties from 7am of 25/10/2014 to 3pm of the same date for intra and inter-state?.
