Former Black Stars and Gold Fields (Ashgold) left back,Sammy Adjei  in an interview with Happy Sports has retorted to claims by some persons that no Ghanaian breed is fit for the Black Stars coaching job.

“It is not true that a Ghanaian cannot handle the Black Stars, I don’t believe it,a black man can coach them,” he said.
“The black coach should be charismatic and should have some kind of personality, majority of the players play for top teams in Europe, so they know what they are doing,”

“Player-coach relationship is very important and I don’t think the players will relate negatively to a coach because he is a Ghanaian or black” he continued.
1978 Nations Cup winner, Mohammed Polo, revealed on Happy FM few days earlier that no Ghanaian coach is fit enough to handle the Black Stars, and that has ignited serious argument among the sporting populace.

Sammy Adjei’s stance therefore opens another room for debate as proponents of local coaches will at least find solace in the fact that a former player believes in the local technical brains.
