HEART OF Lions stunned league leaders Kotoko 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi yesterday.

A 61st minute penalty converted by Hudu Yakubu was enough for the visitors to stop the runaway league leaders.

Lions should be grateful to their goalkeeper Mozart Adjetey who stood between Kotoko and an equalizer, as he made brilliant saves.

Kotoko dominated the first half but they could not translate their dominance into goals, blowing away begging chances.

The few times that Kotoko were able to find the target, goalkeeper Mozart, who had a brilliant afternoon, was equal to the task.

The trend was the same after the break, with Kotoko attacking at will but failing to get the ball past Mozart.

Ohene Brenya fouled an advancing Lions attacker in the box and the referee whistled for a penalty which Hudu fired home.

Kotoko pressed for a face-saving equalizer but try as they did, they could not get the ball into the Lions net.

Kotoko Trainer, Didi Dramani in a post match interview, said his team did not deserve to lose the game.

He however said Kotoko failed to take their chances and also allowed Lions to attack them especially in the second half.

On his part, Coach Yussif Abubakar of Lions thanked his players for their tactical discipline.

He could not hide his joy after achieving a sweet double win over the reigning league champions this season.
