Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) announced the visit in a statement, saying the tour would give the members from Lesotho an inside look of how voter education is done in Malawi as well as the electoral processes which MEC follow during the country’s 2014 Tripartite Elections.
The delegation will be led by the Chairperson of the Lesotho Independent Electoral Commission, Chief Justice (Rtd) Mahapela Lehohla, according to the statement.
MEC said the delegation is scheduled to visit selected accredited Civil Society Organizations that took part in civic and voter education exercise during the 2014 elections and one of the constituencies in the country for a lesson learning and experience drawing.
This will be the second time for the MEC to host an electoral body delegation since the country’s 2014 elections. In June 2014, it hosted a delegation from Uganda on a study tour with special focus on voter education. Enditem
