Lakeside Estate Limited put a smile onto faces of all its workers and residents of Lakeside estates, as the company held its fourth annual?Family Fun?Run to commemorate Ghana?s 57th Independence Anniversary Celebrations.

The Family Fun Run which was launched in Accra in January 2014,?and was in collaboration with Happy Fm, was held in Lakeside Madina Park at Ashaley-Botwe in Accra, brought together high profiled personalities including politicians, officials from Japan Motors and Opportunity International, as well as families living in the company’s estates.

Addressing the gathering the Managing Director of Lakeside Estates Limited, Mr. Prince-Joseph Kofi Ayiku, noted that the event is aimed at providing a unique opportunity for families to bond and connect through a healthy avenue such as sports.

The event, he noted also seeks to contribute to a healthier society by highlighting the health?benefits of exercise?and re-emphasizing the long-term benefits of developing a habitual exercise routine and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The MD noted that the fourth edition?of the run is family focused, that is why it has been rebranded ?Family Fun Run.?

??We have expanded the family awards to six (6) with a specially discounted ticket for two parents and three children of one nuclear family,? he said.

?This year?s event is unique because we are refocusing the fun run as an event for families. We are all very familiar with the routine and demands of?everyday living, and how it often spares little or no time at all for families, whether nuclear or extended, to meet, relax and have fun. ?As they participate, they would be directly contributing to?support charity.

He commended participants in the race for availing themselves for the event, and called on Ghanaians to do regular exercise to improve their health and keep themselves fit at all times.

He revealed that as has been the custom, proceeds?from the run will be?donated?to the Mercy Social Centre at Lakeside Estate, Community One, to support continuous care for the inhabitants of the Centre.

The Chief Executive Officer of Opportunity International, Kwame Owusu-Boateng noted that the company believes that businesses grow when staff are physically fit to carry out responsibilities, hence the company?s decision to sponsor the event.

He also pledged Opportunity International?s continuous support to Lakeside Marina Family Fun Run.

Mr. Boateng also took the opportunity to call on the public to do business with the company since many opportunities are opened to prospective clients who are ready to associate with the company.

On his part, the Director of the Lakeside Estates, Alhaji Kweku Salah Kalmoni?said the event served as a platform for all institutions to network so as to improve upon their opportunities.

He also averred that it was an occasion for families, friends and colleagues to interact and build strong corporate and social relationships.

Awards and prices were given to the fastest man, fastest woman, fastest child aged 12 and below, fastest teenager, fastest runner over 50, fastest family, fastest CEO, and fastest corporate team.

Speaking to some participants in the race, they expressed satisfaction at the organisation of the event, adding that they acquired a lot in terms of fitness and building their capacities to physically carry out their work.

“Good health is wealth, and I believe engaging in this exercise has giving me the opportunity to keep fit at all times,” a participant said.
