A new twist emerged this morning on the 2014 budget presentation which was to be laid before the parliament by President Goodluck Jonathan Tuesday.

The Presentation was again cancelled after being rescheduled last week Tuesday.

The cancellation has obviously been due to the failure of the two parliaments to harmonise the oil benchmark price passed in the fiscal framework.

While the fiscal authorities had proposed a $74/b benchmark price, the Senate passed $76.5/b & the House insisted on $79/b.

However after being informed Tuesday that the President would not be coming in person to lay the budget, the parliamentarians say they are waiting for whoever the President will send to make the presentation on his behalf.
