The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has unveiled an ambitious 12-year development blueprint aiming to transform the municipality by its 25th anniversary in 2037.

Launched under the theme “Shaping Our Destiny: A Roadmap for Transformation and Prosperity,” the plan prioritizes job creation, infrastructure modernization, digital governance, and climate resilience.

Municipal Chief Executive Alfredos Nii Anyetei emphasized the plan’s participatory foundation, stating it reflects “a collective vision voiced by citizens, guided by traditional authorities, and backed by technocrats.” Key targets include creating 5,000+ decent jobs, completing the stalled La General Hospital project, digitizing 70% of municipal services, and ensuring universal primary healthcare access. Environmental commitments feature sustainable drainage systems, circular waste management, and flood mitigation.

This is not just a document it’s our blueprint for transformation,” Anyetei declared, pledging inclusivity for fisherfolk, artisans, PWDs, and informal workers. He urged residents, government bodies, and private partners to collaboratively fund and implement the plan.

Deputy Local Government Minister Rita Naa Odoley Sowah praised LaDMA’s alignment with Ghana’s Sustainable Cities Strategy, citing its model of “long-term visioning with grounded participatory planning.”

She challenged other Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to emulate the approach, stressing cross-boundary collaboration on shared challenges like flooding. Sowah also announced reforms to the Clean Ghana Campaign and relaunch of National Sanitation Day.

LaDMA awarded Ghana’s top-performing assembly in 2023 faces pressures typical of Greater Accra’s urban hubs: unregulated construction, waste management gaps, and climate vulnerability. The plan acknowledges flexibility to adapt to emerging realities while pursuing measurable outcomes by 2037.
