The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwhistle, has commended Governor Rabi?u Musa Kwankwaso, of Kano State for his empowerment programmes in the state .

Entwhistle made the remark during the presentation of letters of appointment into the Kano State civil service to 1,000 youths at the Kano Government House on Tuesday.

He stated that when he was in the US, before becoming an ambassador, he used ?to assume that Nigeria?s most important resource was fuel but on arrival in the country, he came to realize that the most important resource is its young patriotic men and women.I believe the ways to help the youth is education and employment.?

Entwhistle congratulated the newly recruited workers and praised the state government for giving them the unique opportunity to be useful to themselves and to the larger society. He also pledged his country?s support to Kano State government in its fight against HIV/AIDS, Polio and drug abuse.

In his speech, governor Rabi?u Musa Kwankwaso revealed that within the last three years, the state government engaged 8,000 indigenes into its civil service as teachers, administrative personnel and corporate security guards among others in order to revitalize the service.
