The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Kwaebibirem in the Eastern Region, Mr. Emmanuel Reginald Aboagye Osae, has disclosed that his outfit has been able to acquire two additional modern fire tenders to support the fire service station in the district to provide emergency services to victims of accidents.

Mr Osae who is an Accountant by profession disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Today last week and said the provision of the new vehicle and equipment would help deal with fire outbreaks, emergency medical cases and motor accidents which had been on the ascendency in the district.

He cited the destruction caused by recent fire outbreaks in communities in the district and said the Assembly was renovating the old Kade Secondary/Technical School for use as a fire station.

The premises will also accommodate the plan to set up an ambulance service with specially trained medical officers to support the fire service to provide emergency services in the district.

The DCE praised the Fire Service and the Ghana Ambulance Service for agreeing to allocate to the Kwaebibirem District Assembly such essential equipment in the first wave of resourcing district assemblies to provide effective emergency service. This can be described as part of the “Better Ghana” feel.

He however lamented that fire outbreaks and their attendant deaths were on the increase in the region and called on the fire personnel to be up and doing to salvage the alarming situation.

Mr Osae disclosed his outfit’s readiness to set up fire cadet corps in some of the Senior High schools in the district to train students in fire fighting.

He concluded that his ten months in office has seen unprecedented development and will continue to chart a good path.

He intimated that he will not be detracted by people seeking their parochial and selfish interest.

He said he is in politics to make a difference to people’s well-being and not to steal from the public purse.
