?? Over Gh?50,000 Footbridge

The District Chief Executive Officer (DCE) for?Kwabre East Constituency in the Ashanti Region Hon Iddissah Adams has recently come under a tough pressure at an exponential rate over an ongoing construction of a 20 seconds walking distance footbridge at Nsensanso, a?sub-area of Ehwiaa community at an alledged amount of 50,0000 Ghana Cedis as over hundred residents in the area have registered their displeasure against the project which is scheduled to hit completion? the mid of next month.

The project which according to our sources started last two weeks over one “Ankanini” river under the approval of the District Chief Executive despite running, contrary to the demands of the residents appears shoddy as the make up of the supporting pillars are composed of?just half an inch-sized iron rods which according to residents?cannot survive the test of?a torrential rainfall since?it is located at?marshy area.

Aggrieved residents have again relegated the project to the bin to the effect that unlike the construction of a befitting road network at the site to provide a short-cut route to neighboring towns like Kenyase, Buokrom, Duase and other prominent towns within the catchment area of the community, will serve no purpose.

The construction of the road according to residents will address challenges of inaccessibility of vehicle to the area, easing them off the stress in crossing the river to board commercial vehicles.

The DCE according to residents in an interview is said to have treated?petitions made by the people with contempt and threw them overboard.

Meanwhile, information coming from beneath the carpet of the community?indicates that, common consensus was reached earlier on between the community and the District Assembly?for the project and are currently expressing?shocking expressions ? over why the DCE has immediately switched to a project that runs contrary to their demands.

Chiefs and elders of the town?according to sources are even not aware?of the ongoing construction of the footbridge in question, let alone to carry?out an immediate ritual to seek for the spiritual endorsement of the river god.

Following the inactions of the DCE, a cross section of the youth in the area have threatened to pull down the pillars constructed for the foot bridge as a sign of their anger against such decision.
