Kusasi Chief Fatally Shot in Asawase Attack

Unknown assailants shot and killed Abdul-Malik Azenbe, a Kusasi chief residing in the Ashanti Region, near his Asawase residence Tuesday evening.

The attack occurred around 9 pm local time close to the Community Centre at Asawase F-Line, according to eyewitness accounts obtained by Asaase News.

Witnesses reported that gunmen on a motorbike approached the chief’s home without warning. One assailant opened fire before both fled the scene. Local residents rushed the critically injured chief to Manhyia Government Hospital. Medical personnel later referred him to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Senior security officials have visited the family to offer condolences and assurances. “Top security chiefs have assured a full investigation is underway,” Asaase News confirmed. Ashanti Regional Police Command stated they are working to identify and apprehend the suspects, emphasizing that the motive remains unclear at this preliminary stage.

The killing has heightened tensions in the area, with police increasing patrols as investigations continue. Community leaders have appealed for calm while authorities pursue the perpetrators.
