Three Students of Koforidua Polytechnic have been arrested by the New Juaben Municipal Police Command for allegedly possessing fake currency.

The suspects, Ametorwonya Abednego, 26; Agubretsu Prince Kuma, 23 and Bright Mensah, 21, are on police inquiry bail.

Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE was that the suspects went to buy some items worth over GH?130.00 in town at about 12:30 pm. However, the traders, upon suspecting that the money given them was fake, informed the police who came to arrest the students.

Sources indicated that a search on the suspects revealed some foreign currencies suspected to be equally fake.

The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Gideon Boateng, confirmed the story to DAILY GUIDE, adding that investigation was underway to ascertain the validity of the currency retrieved from the suspects.

He said the suspects would be sent to court as soon as the police were able to establish evidence against them.

The Deputy Police PRO further called on the public to be vigilant and report any suspected criminal activities to the police for immediate action.
