Prof. William Otoo Ellis ? Vice Chancellor of KNUST

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has set up a Liaison Committee to monitor and coordinate activities of its affiliate private universities to help maintain high academic standards, the Vice Chancellor, Professor William Otoo Ellis, has announced.

They are determined to strengthen their supervisory role and aid those institutions to grow.

The Committee would evaluate on regular basis academic performance, strategic and future plans, status of faculty members and share knowledge and experiences with them.

The Vice Chancellor said this when the KNUST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Anglican University College of Technology in Kumasi.

This brings to 21, the number of private universities now affiliated to the KNUST.

Prof Ellis initialed for the KNUST, while Prof Marian Ewurama Addy, the President, signed for the College.

The Vice Chancellor cautioned against mediocrity, saying, the desire to make money should not be allowed to affect quality.

Prof Addy said she was happy with the partnership and that the College stood to benefit immensely from the agreement, especially in the area of technology transfer.

The College, sited at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo Region, runs courses in Agriculture, Engineering, Water Resources Management, Food Science and Information Studies.

Present at the ceremony was the Most Reverend Dr. Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo, Archbishop of the Internal Province of Ghana of the Anglican Church.
