Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu South has donated 3000 footwears to selected pupils in 120 basic schools in the Ketu South Municipality.

Twenty-five pupils from each of the listed schools, including 30 kindergarten pupils and some pupils from Arabic schools, benefited.

The donation followed a tour of schools by the MP during, which he found some pupils in worn out bathroom slippers and shoes.

Mr. Kwetey in a message read on his behalf said the gesture was to motivate the pupils to remain in school and study hard.

“The support is to bring back smiles to those pupils to encourage them to remain in school and study hard as the surest means of guaranteeing a brighter future for themselves and the nation”, he said.

The MP advised candidates writing the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination to take their studies seriously and excel to further their education.

He underscored the importance of education and pledged his readiness to continue to support students from the area in second cycle and tertiary institutions, including those learning overseas as well as the provision of school infrastructure.

Mr. Kwetey bemoaned the large class sizes in some schools in the area, particularly in the kindergartens where some classes have as many as 120 pupils, describing it as a challenge to quality teaching and learning.

He asked the Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders to help address challenges facing schools and pupils.

Reverend Charles Elikplim Dorkenoo, Public Relations Officer, Ketu South Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES), commended the MP for the support.

Some beneficiaries from Preventive and Border Schools, Sepenukope and Aflaoga RC Schools, Assalafiya Arabic School, all in Aflao, Ansrahrul Islamic School at Denu and AME Zion School at Hedzranawo, expressed gratitude to the MP and promised to take their studies serious.
