The Super Eagles will play against the Flying Eagles on Friday

National team coach, Stephen Keshi

The Nigerian senior national football team, the Super Eagles, will play against their junior counterparts, the Flying Eagles at the practice pitch of the Abuja National Stadium on Friday.

Super Eagles boss, Stephen Keshi, made the announcement on Tuesday morning just before the commencement of training. He said he expects the senior national team to dominate the encounter.

Already, the two teams are playing mind games, with Flying Eagles Media Officer, Sam Audu, telling his Super Eagles counterpart, Ben Alaiya, that “it’s on record, that the Flying Eagles have never lost to the Super Eagles in any friendly and I hope we continue to keep that record on Friday”.

Alaiya simply retorted: “We shall see when Friday comes.”

The only apparent weakness that the Super Eagles will suffer on Friday will be that, of the three goalkeepers invited to camp, only Okemute Odah of Sharks of Port Harcourt is available. The other invitees, Chigozie Agbim of Warri Wolves and Dan Akpeyi of Heartland FC, are away on continental assignments.

But the national team’s goalkeepers’ trainer, Ike Shorunmu, who has been drilling Odah, assured that the goalkeeper will be up to the task of warding off the strikers of the junior national team on Friday.
