Albert Kan-Dapaah, Member of Parliament for Afigya Sekyere West, was attacked at gun-point by armed men on Tuesday at his residence in Dansoman, Accra.

According to the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, the incident took place around 11: 15pm, immediately he got home after appearing on Metro TV?s Good Evening Ghana programme.

The Chairman of Public Accounts Committee has been in the public eye recently, following what many see as his controversial encounters with current and former government officials at the PAC.

It is not clear whether the attack is linked to what members of the ruling NDC see as attempt to embarrass their high profile members, but Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, yesterday alleged the attack was part of the NDC?s plot to assassinate some high profile members of the opposition NPP.

The armed men, who spent between 20 to 30 minutes in the MP?s residence, and seemed not to be in a hurry to leave, did not harm him. They, however, fired bullets to vandalise his vehicle.

Mr Kan-Dapaah is the second MP to be attacked by robbers in less than a week. The MP for Chereponi, Samuel Abdulai Djabanyite, was also attacked at gunpoint last Friday in the Northern region.

Speaking in a number of radio interviews yesterday, Mr Kan-Dapaah said he was ambushed by three muscular armed men as soon as he parked his car after getting home.

The MP was then asked by his assailants to lead them into his bedroom, whereupon they ransacked the place and made away with a laptop and some other personal belongings.

?The robbers did not enter any other bedroom apart from my bedroom even though my children were asleep in the other rooms. I?m sure the armed robbers know me because they kept mentioning my name. One of the armed robbers said to me openly that I?m lucky he knows me on TV and that he likes me very much otherwise?,? Mr Kan-Dapaah said on OK FM.
