Mr. Ken Kuranchie says he is very disappointed about the outcome

Renowned Marketer turned politician, George Andah, beat competition from five others on Saturday June 13, to win the New Patriotic Party?s parliamentary primaries in the Afutu Senya West Constituency in the Central Region.

Mr. Andah, who says his motivation to enter politics was due to what he calls a lack of direction in leadership in the country, polled 282 votes in the keenly contested polls.

His closest contender, Joseph Aidoo polled 113 votes, whiles Moses Nkansah and Patrick Amoakoh polled 55 and 5 votes respectively.

The fifth contender, Emmanuel Egyiri Essibu also managed 62 of the total votes cast.

Mr. Andah would by this victory contest against the incumbent MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh, if she retains her seat at the NDC internal primaries.

Mr. Andah?s entry into politics had become a subject controversy because he emerged from a supposed apolitical pressure group, Occupy Ghana, largely made up of elite individuals.

His decision to vie for a parliamentary seat in the Afutu Senya West Constituency on the ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party,  thus raised questions about the objectivity of the Occupy Ghana group of which he still remains a notable member, but says he has taken a backstage position.

In another development, Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, Kenneth Kuranchie, has lost his bid to become the parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the Okai Koi North constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

The seat had become vacant following the decision of the incumbent NPP MP, Madam Elizabeth Sackey to step down after 2016.
Mr. Ken Kuranchie managed to poll 141 votes as against the winner Fuseini Issa, a chartered accountant, who polled 284 votes.

The other contender, Seth Agyei Baah, popularly known as Shaba, also polled 103 votes whiles the 4th contender Ayorko Boateng, polled just 12 votes.
