State government deploys learning facilities and infrastructure to school

The Kebbi State government is determined to adopt fresh measures to improve students’ performance in external examinations, the state’s Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Abdullahi Kamba said.

Kamba conveyed the government’s resolve at an interactive meeting with directors, supervisors and inspectors of schools in Birnin Kebbi.

He said that the government hoped to combat the poor performance in public examinations with provision of teaching and learning facilities, infrastructure, and reduced student-teacher ratio.

This, the commissioner said, became important with the increase in enrolment of students in the state.

“I commend the honest contributions by participants at this interactive session and urge all of you to always give suggestions on the way forward to raise the standard of  education in the state,” Kamba said.

The commissioner promised increased supervision and inspection of schools to ensure quality teaching and learning in schools.

Ibrahim Garba, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools noted that the current student-teacher ratio in schools is a major factor militating against students’ performance in external examinations.
