Suspects Eshun Copper and Jackie Kennedy in police custody

Two Liberians believed to be trading in cocaine and heroin at the Buduburam Liberian camp near Kasoa have been arrested by the Kasoa District Police.

The suspects, Eshun Copper, 23, and Jackie Kennedy, 22, were arrested on May 30, 2013, with the substance concealed in wrappers being sold to customers at the camp.

About 130 wrappers of the whitish substance believed to be cocaine and 50 wrappers of heroin were found on suspect Eshun while 56 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found on suspect Jackie Kennedy.

The suspects are currently in police custody while the substances have been forwarded to the forensic laboratory for examination, according to the police.

Chief Superintendent Ebenezer K. Asare told DAILY GUIDE that the suspects were immediately brought to the station for questioning when the items were found on them.

Intelligence gathered by the police recently revealed that some of the settlers traded in drugs in the area.

Around 7:30pm of May 30, 2013, police conducted an operation to arrest those engaged in the illicit business in the area.

The two were then grabbed with the substances when their premises were searched.

The two refused to reveal their source of supply and are still in custody.

Chief Superintendent Asare said investigations were ongoing to ascertain the source of the substances.
