Borussia Dortmund?s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has reiterated the club?s desire to bring Manchester United star Shinji Kagawa back to the club in the future.

Kagawa, who joined Old Trafford from Dortmund just last year, has already dismissed reports that he will rejoin his former club.

However, after Kagawa previously enjoyed a successful spell at the German giants, Watzke has suggested the club will opt to sign the Japanese playmaker in the future.

Dortmund?s chief executive told Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung: ?It?s a fact that Shinji said on his own accord that he can imagine a transfer back to our club in the future. That is delightful news for our club.

?Shinji Kagawa is a great player, he had great success at our club, and we would definitely consider him if this ever becomes a possibility.?

However, Kagawa has already committed his immediate future at the Red Devils, and has stated his intention to improve upon his first season at Old Trafford.

Kagawa scored just five Premier League goals last season, but looks set to play a key role in United?s title defence under David Moyes in 2013/14.

United?s season kicks-off against Wigan Athletic at Wembley this Sunday, before Moyes? side travel to Swansea City on August 18 to begin their Premier League campaign. (
