Commissioner for Works and Transport says the construction will aid the state’s transformation agenda

In its bid to facilitate socio-economic development across Kaduna, the state government has set aside N28 billion for the construction of 31 township and rural roads in the state.

Suleiman Richifa, the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, communicated the government’s decision to newsmen after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Friday.

According to the commissioner, the construction of the roads was in line with the government?s transformation agenda and targeted at improving road network in the state.

He added that the construction would aid vehicular movement within the township and rural areas in the state.

He said that the council had approved advance payment of 25 per cent to contractors handling the projects to facilitate the work for socio-economic development.

“The advance payment of 25 per cent of the contract sum is to facilitate the movement of contractors to the site immediately,?? he said.

He said the road construction would commence immediately after the rainy season to make the work more effective and durable.

The roads to be constructed include Garun Kurama-Kurandai-Bandu Kasuwa (21.7km), Maraban Kakeyi-FarinKasa-San Birni-Richifa (27km), Farar Gada- Yakawada-Iyatawa (26km), and Dogon Dawa-Sason Layi-old Birnin Gwari (34km).

The roads also include Kwasam-Kushere-Geshere (45km), Kwagiri-Kussom-Wasa (24km), Kwoi-dura-Ankung-Taimen-Idofu (13.1km), Kagoro-Manchok-Mabushi (34km), Bukus Kwarin Ayuba-Angwan Yusi Yankarfe-Hanwa (4.2km).

Also to be constructed are the Gonin gora-Hayin Katafawa-Ungwan Bije-Gonin Gora (6.5km) road, WAEC-GGSS Kawo-College-Lafiya road (4.1km), Tanko Ayuba-NAFDAC-Post office (5km) road, Kudenda road network (9km), Hayin Jirgi-Borno road (4km) and Romi-Karatudu (6km) road.
Others are Likoro-Magata (6.8km), Sakaru-Bagaidi (9km), Garun Kurama-Keran (2.5km), Shehu Idris road-Tudun Jikun road (1.4km), Barnawa central (2km) Barnawa Asphalt (5km), Gangar township road (3km), Kutemeshi-Yankan Dutse (4km).
The rest are yam market-Afaka road (3km), Rigachukwu township (5km), Zonkwa-Yabavan (5km), Gidan Mana township (5km), Kagoma town ship (8.7km), Angwan Idi ?Kusheka (5km), Gantang-Bahago (3km) and Benue road (1.2km).
