HOUSTON — Police in the northern Texas city of Dallas confirmed Saturday that the driver who opened fire on police officers outside the department’s headquarters has died.
Dallas police said the driver of an armored van had been shot by a police sniper about 5 a.m. local time on Saturday while engaging in a standoff with officers at a fast food restaurant in Hutchins, about 20.8 km from the department’s headquarters, local ABC13 TV reported. (US-Gunman-Police )

KHARTOUM — The UN refugee agency said on Saturday that more than 14,000 South Sudanese civilians had fled to Sudan during the past two weeks due to the violence in their home country’s oil-rich areas.
