Kumasi, Dec. 05, GNA ? A group of journalists in Kumasi on Wednesday went on a peace march to highlight the need for all to pull together to make Friday?s polls incident-free.

For about six hours, they walked through some principal streets, occasionally stopping at the FM radio stations to deliver their peace message. Hello FM, OTEC, LUV, Nhyira, JEM, ASSH, Garden City Radio, New Mercury, KESSBEN and BOSS FM, where among stations where the marchers made these stopovers.

Mr Charles Brafo-Anakwah, News Editor of KESSBEN FM, who lead the group said it was also to remind the media of its responsibility to society.

He urged his colleague journalists, especially those working with the electronic media, to uphold professional ethics, be factual and accurate in their reports on the elections.

?Let us be objective, go by the ethics of the profession and avoid exaggeration?, he added.

He said it was important to cross-check their information before putting it out.

He said it must not be lost on them the carnage caused elsewhere through the recklessness of the media and asked that such mistakes should be avoided.

Managers, editors and producers of the various FM radio stations pledged not to allow their platform to be used to incite political tension.
