Jigawa correspondent chapel has shunned Governor Sule Lamido?s invitation to break fasting with him at the government house on Tuesday. Information available to reveals that the journalist chose to break their fasting with the Jigawa federal university with the Vice Chancellor of the institution.

It was gathered that journalists had opted to shun the governor?s invitation because of the governor?s habitual tendency to mix journalists with praise singers as well as political thugs called ?yan jagaliya? with local politicians ?in one place? in the name of breaking fast with the press. According to one of the prominent journalists in Dutse, ?Lamido has formed a habit of using the religious event for politics?.

A reliable source close to the governor indicates that the governor was uncharacteristically unraveled by the actions of the media ? to the extent that he made out time for a closed door meeting with the director of press. The director of press was ?chastised? by the governor ? intimating on him that he should have done all the necessary ?things? to ensure that the media join him for the fast breaking. He even told him that he should have offered them money, if necessarily.

It was gathered also that prior to Sule Lamido?s coming as the governor of Jigawa, the prior governor used the month of Ramada to reach out to the government workers ? to offer them Sallah packages ? and during Idi Elkabir, the former governor would share money for the purchase of Ram [Kudin Rago]. But Sule Lamido cancelled it immediately he took office.

Meanwhile, the vice chancellor of the Jigawa Federal University, Professor Jibril Aminu thanked the people of Jigawa state for the support and cooperation given to him and members of the governing council of the university. He assured his total support and assistance to people in
the state especially the people who lost their house and farm land as
a result of expansion of the university.

He explained that people in the area were very cooperative and supportive to
the university while urging the people in the area to maintain the cordial relationship with the school authorities. He assured that his door will always be open for accepting good advice from people.
