Journalists Against Corruption to be inaugurated soon

A coalition of selected Ghanaian Journalists – Journalists Against Corruption (JAC) will undergo professional enhancement training to sharpen their investigative skills aimed at focusing more light in the extractive industry especially the Oil and Gas. The occasion will also witness the formal inauguration of the coalition.
corruptionThe two-day training organized by the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) in collaboration with OSIWA, seeks to drive advocacy on petroleum contracts, local content, various laws etc using Journalists Against Corruption (JAC) coalition. They will be expected to do follow ups and tracking of various developments in the sector and expose any underhand dealings. The workshop will take place at the ACEP offices in Accra.
Sponsors add that the training will also enable the reporters, who have been at the forefront of exposing corruption and investigations to do more using the right language and breaking downs jargons in the sector. In addition, being a new industry in Ghana, the oil and gas sector presents new challenges for journalists to learn and understand issues in the industry.
The Network of Journalist Against Corruption was formed to receive these training opportunities to effectively expand their scope of work write informed stories, cross referencing and draw attention to the underhand dealings in the extractive industry for the good of the country.
