He polled 1,694 votes to beat Mr Ambrose Entsiwah junior, also a journalist, who had 1,261 in a keenly contested election conducted by the Effutu Municipal Office of the Electoral Commission (EC).

The delegates voted a total of 2,758 Yes for President John Mahama and 171 No votes.

Mr Don-Arthur in an interview with newsmen thanked the delegates for the honour done him, and appealed to them to support him to win the Effutu seat to become the Member of Parliament for the area in the 2016 elections.

He urged supporters of the other candidate to bury their differences and join his team to win the seat from the NPP.

The election was administered by the Effutu Municipal Electoral Commission Officials led by Ms Emilia Akortia, Municipal Director of EC.

It was supervised by Executives of the Effutu Constituency branch of the party.
