Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has declared that he is the ?happiest man in the world? after sealing his dream move to play in the English Premier League with Aston Villa on Monday.

Aston Villa signed the Ghana international striker on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee from French side Lorient.

The 23-year-old, who joins from Lorient in France?s Ligue 1, helped his country to second place in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

?I am the happiest man in the world. It?s one of my greatest days in football. My dream was to play for a big team in England ? and Aston Villa is undoubtedly one of the greats in English football,? Ayew said.

?The Premier League is the biggest in the world. That?s why when the opportunity came, I didn?t have to think twice.

?I know all about the Premier League because I have a big passion for football. I watched all the games when I was in France.

?I know all about the team and I know all the players by name.

Villa were in the market for a striker after selling Belgian Christian Benteke to Liverpool for ?32.5m.

Ayew?s arrival follows Villa?s summer acquisition of fellow Ligue 1 players Jordan Amavi and Idrissa Gueye.

The Midlanders, who also lost Fabian Delph to Manchester City, have signed Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards and Mark Bunn since the end of last season.

?I?m really pleased to bring Jordan to the football club,? manager Tim Sherwood said.

?He is a fantastic young player who is perfectly suited to the Premier League.?

His older brother, Andre Ayew, moved to Swansea City after leaving Marseille in June.
