President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday advised the newly weds, his daughter Faith and his new son-in-law, Godswill Edward, to always find ways to resolve their problems between themselves without involving outsiders.

The President noted that even though they can intervene as parents, they were analogue while their children were digital.

He was speaking at the reception of the wedding which was held at the International Conference Center, Abuja, adding that it was a glorious sadness to be giving one’s daughter out in marriage.

Three former leaders including President Olusegun Obasanjo, General Yakubu Gowon and Chief Ernest Shonekan were present at the church service earlier at the National Christian Centre.

Also in attendance was the governor of Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who had been at loggerheads with the President.

The ceremony started at exactly 10.56a.m. when Jonathan and his wife, Patience wearing blue traditional attire led Faith into the National Christian Centre, venue of the wedding, accompanied by family members.

The marriage ceremony was officiated by the Prelate of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Primate Nicholas Okoh assisted by Bishop of Kubwa Diocese, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Bishop Timothy Akamisoko.

The couple later exchanged their vows aand were pronounced husband and wife.

The groom, Godswill took the first bible lesson from Genesis Chapter 2, verse 9 while the bride took the second lesson from Ephesians Chapter 5: 21-33

In his sermon on the occasion, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye admonished the couple to live in peace and harmony.

Speaking specifically speaking to the husband, the clergy Adeboye advised him that as the Head of the House, not to criticise is wife but to correct her with love.

Adeboye who said he has 47 years experience in marriage said the most important part of the head is the tongue, stressing that the success or failure of marriage depended on the use of the tongue.

Adeboye told Edward, “you are the head of the family, being the head means that you are extremely important, success or failure of the marriage rests on you. The head contain the eyes, it is the light of the body so you decide where the marriage will go, the head also have two ears and one mouth, be swift to hear but slow to speak.

“When your wife cooks for you, don’t think it will be like that of your mother, your mother has been on the it for long, if there is too much salt in the food, or the meat is tough, don’t blame her but try and use wisdom to tell her”.

Adeboye told the parents of the couple not to interfere in the affairs of the couple, saying, “those who God has joined, let no man put asunder”.

Prayers were later offered by President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor and other clergies at the ceremony.

The couple later signed marriage register.

Senate President, Senator David Mark, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihediora led the members of the National Assembly to the church wedding.

Captains of Industry present include President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Forte Oil, Mr. Femi Otedola; Managing Director of Access Bank, Aig- imoukhuede; Chairman of Visafone, Jim Ovia.

Governors present include Liyel Imoke (cross River); Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa); Theodore Orji (Abia); Godswill Akpabio; (Akwa Ibom), Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan; (Delta), Gabriel Suswam (Benue); Jonah Jang (Plateau), Martin Elechi (Ebonyi); Idris Wada (Kogi); Willie Obiano (Anambra), Isa Yuguda (Bauchi) as well as former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel and that of Oyo state, Alao-Akala.

Also in attendance ware Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Mua’zu; Chairman of PDP Board Of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, former PDP Deputy Chairman,South West, Chief Bode George.

Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN), Cabinet Ministers and members of the Diplomatic Corps were also at the occasion.

Clergies in attendance at the ceremony include Bishop David. Oyedepo of the Winners Chapel;Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Rep of Pope in Nigeria, Kasuja, Chairman of FCT Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Israel Akanji

Highlight of the wedding was the cutting of?wedding cake by the couple and the President’s dance with his daughter Faith.

The reception, guests were entertained by the Koko Master, D’Banji and a Calabar Carnival troupe.

Edward in his vote of thanks, thanked his wife’s parents for giving him their daughter and also his parents, assuring them that he has gained a new family. The Bayelsa and Cross River states governors and their wives for the support and all the dignitaries for honouring them.
