b2580c8013b9b11cb22b7b3e60685368_MGovernors on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)?on Wednesday?rose from their meeting in Abuja and announced their endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan for 2015 presidential election.

This was just as they gave their support to the party?s governorship candidate in the August governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore to pursue his case in court.

In a communique at the end of their meeting which lasted for about four hours, the PDP governors?urged their party faithful to support their decision to enable President Jonathan emerge as the sole presidential candidate of the PDP in 2015.

The?communique of the meeting which was read by the Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum and governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio read in part: ?The Forum hereby endorses Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for a second term in office and resolved to support his bid for re-election come 2015.

?The Forum urges all PDP faithful to support this gesture which should enable the President to become the sole presidential candidate of the PDP come 2015.?

The PDP Governors? Forum, which has 18 governors including deputies in attendance, in its communique also discussed the outcome of the Osun State governorship election saying; ?We salute the decision of our candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore and all PDP faithful who have chosen to pursue their right through the law court.”

The PDP governors commended the armed forces in fighting the insurgency in the North-east part of the country and urged Nigerians and the international community to continue to co-operate with the federal government of Nigeria with the view to stamp out terrorism out of the country.
It also commended President Jonathan and the Minister of Health in the success recorded in the fight against ebola.

In attendance at the meeting were?governors of Cross River, Niger, Kogi, Kaduna, Taraba (Acting) Gombe, Abia, Delta, Adamawa (Acting), Bayelsa, Plateau, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Benue, Jigawa (Deputy), Katsina (Deputy), Sokoto (Deputy) and Kebbi (Deputy).
