Greetings His Excellency,

Mr President, this time yours truly want to center all my write ups on sensitive national issues by putting out certain suggestions. I have soberly pondered over your call on Ghanaians to patronize made in Ghana goods. I see that laudable and worthy to be discussed extensively. With this call, i honestly think we must begin taking a closer look at activities in the Trade Ministry, the Ministry is one outlets we usually don?t focus our discussions on but ironically all these calls from the President would come to fruition if we have very strong Trade Ministry. The current Minister and his assistant are performing creditably but i still have some suggestions i deem cogent to push forward for consideration.

I honestly think the nation can feed us better than ourselves and will appeal to Ghanaians to take your call seriously.I suggest our industrial revolution must involve siting projects in the rural areas,we must think of opening Regional offices for the start we can target Kumasi to be responsible for the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern and the Upper Regions and may be Takoradi to look after industries which would spring up in the Western,Central and a Headquarters which would supervise activities in the Volta and Eastern regions. I have peaked it this way because of immediate logistic problems.Among the duties of these regional officers are

1. To explain government industrial policy

2. To study and appraise the effect of Government industrial policies and regulations and to report on these to the Ministry and to make appropriate recommendations for modification and review where deemed necessary.

3. To study and report bottlenecks and problems impeding efficient growth of industries in the regions and to submit recommendations for streamlining rural industrialization.

4. To collect and compile industrial statistics and other data required under the manufacturing industries Act if we have something like that for submission to the Ministry and to handle industrial enquiries at the preliminary stage within laid down policy. The government can later think of opening such offices in all the regions.

His Excellency, our government can revive the industrial area policy as started in Accra industrial Area and in the port city of Tema. This can facilitate easy acquisition of land for factory building, government must as a matter or urgency take steps to acquire land and establish similar industrial areas in all regional, municipal as well as district capitals. This idea will reduce unemployment considerably and ease employment pressure on government. This is a huge policy which demand serious protection from the directive principles of state policy. Today we still have the industrial area in Accra as one enclave with huge workers traders and manufacturers, how laudable would it be having similar outlets across the nation.

His Excellency, i think we need Planning, projects and Research Divisions in the Ministry to handle matters relating to industrial planning. It is will also be responsible for co coordinating industrial research activities and may be relations with United Nations Agencies and other international organization. The Joint state and Private Enterprises as well as small scale industries division must be taken serious as at 1975,Ghana government with foreign investors operated fourteen major industries.

Mr President, your call for Ghanaians to patronize made in Ghana goods demands rapid industrial expansion and must be coupled with high quality products government must therefore play center role in this industralization spirit. One area i will like this administration to look into,is our land affairs, industralization bothers on huge land acquisition unfortunately for us,all our lands are going to estate developers taking away our farm lands and lands earmarked for our industries, all such lands have been encroached upon by individuals or sold amongst some officials of past governments.I think activities in the Land commission must be monitored to the letter if we reallt want to embark on this industralization policy.

His Excellency, i wish you well in all your endeavour and will continue to put forward such suggestions for consideration and to be discussed. We can on survive and become really independent if we adopt the policy you have put forward, our nationalism spirit must be awakened and think the education ministry must also begin changing their syllabus and teaching and learning materials to suit such aggressive national transformation.

Thank You Mr President for your 24/7 audience,

Yours Faithfully,
Ohenenana Obonti Krow/Spynewsagency
