In a massive fitness boost for Ghana, key central defender John Boye returned to action on Sunday for Rennes, scoring a controversial injury time equaliser for the reserve side of the French club, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.

His return to action for the reserves means he will play in next weekend?s French Ligue 1 game before heading to Ghana for the crucial World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

Boye was in action Locmin? for Rennes reserves and grabbed the controversial equaliser in injury time that helped them to a 1-1 draw.

The Ghanaian rose highest and beat the goalkeeper with his hand to seal the equaliser at the blind side of the referee. (See video below)

But most importantly for Ghana is his return to playing as he will be key to the Black Stars quest of beating Zambia to reach the final phase of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

WIth defender Isaac Vorsah out injured, Ghana will rely heavily on Boye to prevent the Zambians from scoring in the expected tough clash.

The central defender missed the start of the French Ligue 1 season last weekend due to a muscle problem.

The 26-year-old had withdraw from the Ghana squad for the international friendly against Turkey last week due the injury.

The injury looked to threatened Boye?s participation in the deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia early next month.

But the Ghana international has responded well to treatment and has started playing.
