Ghana defender John Boye returned to the starting team of Rennes on Tuesday night and helped them to seal a 3-2 victory over Angers to reach the French Cup final.

The centre-back?s return to the starting team is a major boost for the Black Stars with the World Cup looming and also showed why Rennes have struggled recently without him.

Boye, who is a key players for coach Kwesi Appiah, played full throttle as they came from behind to claim the victory to make the final of the Coupe de France for the sixth time in their history.

There were worries over the lack of action for Boye in recent weeks which sparked concerns that he might not be match fit for the World Cup.

But his return to action for Rennes has shown that he is match ready to play for Ghana at the World Cup which is under two months away.

Mohamed Yattara put the Ligue 2 side ahead after just three minutes before Ola Toivonen equalised for their top-tier opponents and Kamil Grosicki handed them a 2-1 lead at the break.

Jean Makoun netted Rennes? third just minutes into the second half before Yattara struck a penalty after 89 minutes, but it was too little too late for Angers.

Rennes, who are looking to win their third Coupe de France after last winning the trophy in 1971, will take on the winners of Wednesday night?s second semi-final between Guingamp and Monaco in the final.
