Ghana winger Ishmael Yartey in action for FC Sion against Wolfsburg in the Valais Cup on Saturday

Ghana winger Ishmael Yartey was the brightest spot in the FC Sion side who lost 4-0 to German side VfL Wolfsburg in the Valais Cup on Saturday.

Yartey was making his first official appearance for Sion in a competitive fixture and thing turned out bad for his side as they lost their opening game to the Germans.

The 23-year-old went straight into Michel Decastel?s line-up playing in a typical supportive striking role and lasted for most parts of the game.

In the 17th minute of the first half, the former Ghana U17 star showed exciting footwork beating two Wolfsburg defender before laying a pass to a team-mate who threw the chance away.

Naldo scored first for Wolfsburg in the 23rd minute before Diego increased the tally four minutes later.

German Dost made it 3-0 just before the break and grabbed his brace on the hour mark.

The former Sochaux will once again be involved on Tuesday for Sion when they take on Marseille.
