Mrs Dzifa Attivor, Minister of Transport, has inaugurated a seven member committee to investigate the Ethiopian Airways Boeing 737 Cargo Air crash which occurred last Saturday, 10th January 2015 at the Kotoka International Airport.

The establishment of the committee was in accordance with the Ghana Civil Aviation Act 678 and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) processes in conduct of aircraft accident investigations.

Inaugurating the committee, Mrs Attivor said the committee would seek to establish the cause of the accident, determine the extent of injuries, and establish the extent of loss or damage to property.

?It will also consider any issue relevant to the safety of aircraft passengers and also make recommendations to forestall any future occurrences,? she added.

She said the committee, which is expected to present its report in 30 days to the Ministry is also charged to seek the expertise of local and international groups to assist in the investigation process.

Members of the committee are Captain Samuel Thompson, chairman and a pilot by profession; Mr Ben Asare Buotu, a member and a retired Safety Inspector; Mr Kenneth Kwakume, a member and a retired Air Traffic Controller, and Mr Amos Narh, a member and a retired Ghana Meteorological Officer.

The rest are Mr Chris Quaye, a member and a retired Director of Airport Operations; Ms Josephine Nkrumah, a member and a Legal Practitioner, and Wing Commander Joseph Adu Gyamfi from the Ghana Air force.

Captain Samuel Thompson, on behalf of the committee members expressed their appreciation to the Minister for the trust reposed in them and their readiness to work within the stipulated 30 days.
