The Techplus International Conference and Exhibition, the first of this kind in Nigeria, started Friday, attracting more than 100 foreign and local companies.

During the two-day exhibition named “Leadership in Digital Technology”, the companies from Nigeria, South Africa, China, France, United States, South Korea amongst others are showcasing various technologies relating to major sectors at over 100 pavilions.

Nike Animashaun, the Permanent Secretary in Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology said the event is a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and a market place for the African target market.
She told her audience that it will also gives software and hardware companies a platform to bring their product and service to the African market.

Jim Mckelvey, Co-founder of Square and one of the guest speaker, told Xinhua that he is excited to be part of gathering where innovations and ideas are being created.

He described African countries, especially Nigeria as a place with vast business opportunities for international companies.

“This is a big deal because you are getting people together who or want to solve essentially the same class of problem, which is bringing innovation to Nigeria, their tremendous opportunity here and Techplus is a very good start for getting an innovation going and you’re doing exactly the right thing, you bringing some experts and also you have this break-out section,” he added.

Huawei Technologies, a Chinese private company specializing in information and technology products and solutions, is also exhibiting a wide range of products at the exhibition, holding at the Lagos Eko Hotel.
The Chinese company described the exhibition as a great opportunity for their businesses.

The expo was organized by Connect Marketing Company and powered by Africa’s telecommunications giant MTN. The show lasts to Saturday. Enditem
