The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Monday, charged internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s), in Borno to safeguard their health condition by ensuring proper environmental sanitation during their stay in camps.
Alhaji Yahya Iman, The Borno Director NOA, made the call at a sensitisation campaign on environmental sustainability in IDP’s camps in Maiduguri.
Iman said the Agency was collaborating with the Borno State Environmental Protecting Agency (BOSEPA) in the exercise aimed toward ensuring safety and clean environment.


He explained that the gesture was necessary as most of the IDP’s were ignorant of the environmental hazards that can effect their health.
“You must take issues concerning your health seriously to prevent the spread of diseases like malaria, typhoid, cholera among others.

“The government must not do everything for you, you are all matured people, so you should therefore replicate the normal cleanliness in your various homes here in camp.
The Director also visited four IDP camps in the metropolis, donated detergent, brooms, and soaps for the IDP’s to keep their cloths, rooms and surrounding cleans.
Also speaking, Alhaji Babagana Mahmoud, the Chairman Committee on IDP’s of Government Girls Secondary School Maiduguri, commended NOA for the gesture and urged the IDP’s to always keep the camp clean.
He said that more than 4,200 women and children IDP’s were currently taking refuge in the camp.
He commended the state government toward alleviating the hardship and plight of the displaced persons pointing out that soon the insurgency would soon be a thing of the past.
